SWVA are pleased to offer for auction this fantastic Mini Cooper S Chassis: CA2S7892762 Engine: 9FSAY42447
The car was built in August 1966 and registered in February 1967. It comes with a Heritage Certificate showing that it is an original Cooper S and was supplied with twin fuel tanks, 4.5 inch wheels, oil cooler, sump guard and fresh-air heater (all but the sump guard remain on the car). The dealer handling the initial registration was H.A. Saunders Limited in Finchley, North London. In total there have been five owners. The current owner has had the car for ten years and the previous one owned the car for twenty five years. Little is known of its earlier life other than the second owner being a lady living in Oxford and the third owner being a gentleman living in West Byfleet, Surrey.

In 1981 the car was bought by a garage owner in Woking and soon after he set about restoring it. As part of the restoration the red body colour was retained but the original black roof was replaced with Old English White. By November 1984 the restoration was complete and the car was displayed at the Brighton Classic Car Show. In June 1985 it was entered in the Cooper Car Club concours competition and it came second in the Master Class, with the prize being presented by John Cooper (Images available in history file).

The current owner acquired the car in December 2006 and in the last 10 years it has covered 3,000 miles. In 2009 it was entered in the Mini Cooper Register concours competition and it came second in the modified class. In 2015 the engine was reconditioned with the rebuild work undertaken by Classic and Modern Engine Services and the installation work done by Downton Motor Engineering (invoices included totalling nearly £5000). The engine is fully run-in and the carburettor needles have been tuned by Tom Airey. The car has been kept in a dry garage throughout this ownership and it is believed that it has been dry garaged since the restoration was completed in 1984.
