On the Surface: Absolutely stunning example of the rarer seen Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster, finished in Black over a Tan leather interior with beige cloth seating in the rear this example was first registered on the 2nd of July 1947. Described by the Armstrong Siddeley Owner’s Club in 2022 as a “likely concours contender!” This stunner, has only had 7 owners over its 77-year lifespan.

Maintenance & History: This Lancaster boasts an immense history file that includes an insurance valuation from 2021, valuing the car at £24,000, old Armstrong Siddeley literature, and the original purchase document from 1947. The car was first owned by Mr. R.H. Nicholls of Cheltenham, who kept it for the first 50 years. The file is organised as a storyline, making it easy to navigate through the car’s well documented history. Also included are old Owner’s Club magazines and an Armstrong Siddeley maintenance manual.

The car passed its MOT test in June 2023 with no advisories, showcasing its excellent condition. The Vendor has owned the vehicle for the last 3 years and has taken great care in preserving the vehicles condition. The driver’s side rear passenger window is cracked, but a new replacement window is included with the car for the next owner to fit.

The Model: The Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster, produced from 1945 to 1952, was the first post-war sports saloon by Armstrong Siddeley Motors Limited. It featured an all-new chassis with independent front suspension using torsion bars and a live rear axle with leaf springs. The braking system included Girling hydro-mechanical brakes, with front drums hydraulically operated and rear drums using rod and cable. Wire wheels were an option but rarely fitted.

Sale Insight: Previously sold through our Autumn Classic Car Auction of 2016 for £12,960 plus Buyer’s Premium, this car is now available again. The Vendor, now 83, has decided to part with this great example due to the heavy steering being challenging to handle. We strongly recommend prospective buyers view this exceptional vehicle and its comprehensive history file in person—you will not be disappointed.
