The vendor tells us he has owned this wonderful example for 13 years and it is a real time warp. The car is still wearing it’s original factory finish black save the four wings which were damaged when the first lady owner (1937-1954) drove through narrow cemetery gates to visit her late husband (now rectified). Interior is also original in green other than the front seats being releathered. Earliest MOT in the history is from June 1981 and shows a mileage of 23,397, current mileage is 25,758 but not warranted. The first owner left the car to her mechanic who left it on blocks, he then sold it when he saw an advert seeking an Ascot. This owner replaced the engine block (reason unknown) bills included. The car went through a further 2 owners and the one the vendor purchased the car from used the car in TV dramas such as Poirot and Foyles War (evidence in history folder). the vendor tells us he is now selling this car and one other (lot 77) from his collection of Austins due to age catching up with him. He tells us it is much admired at shows.

Auctioneers notes: The originality of this 84 years young Austin 12 New Ascot is outstanding. She has been owned by the vendor for the past 13 years and has come to the market because he blames old age and he is reducing his collection. A lot of interesting reading including repair bills, old log books, V5’s and V5C’s, we even have a buff coloured one. In the papers I discovered the Austin Motor Co. Ltd Manufacturer’s Warranty Certificate. By the way, she has her original registration number and you will find in the papers as well old MOT’s from ’82 Workshop Manual, Lub Chart, Austin 12 Brochure and for you film buffs proof of her work in television, Foyles War etc. She really is an outstanding car and the vendor said he would sadly miss her.
