Description:Description from The Vendor: Built 21st August 1951 and registered in Ayrshire Scotland, December 1951. It has the body number 6 of the later GD3 style which has the column change gearbox (which works very well). Comes with British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate which confirms the factory build record. The car was restored over a number of years, put back on the road in 2012 and the car has only done little mileage since, whilst also being stored in a dry warm garage between uses. The paintwork is presentable but not perfect, meanwhile, the interior is superb along with a very good fitting hood and new full length tonneau cover.
Auctioneer’s notes: This excellent example of a rare Austin A 40 Sports is a G3 Model and they had a number of improvements such as full hydraulic brakes, re-designed dashboard and steering column gear leaver etc. The engine is from the Austin A 40 Saloon 1.2 lit and benefits from a twin carb layout, giving approximately 50 BHP and a top speed of just under 80 MPH. The bodies of all A40 Sports are all aluminium and were built by the Jensen Motor Company. This car comes with a Heritage Certificate, Service Manual, spare key and pictures of the restoration which was carried out approx. 10 years ago, plus invoices amounting to £1700.
