Description:For a short video of the vehicle please click here A letter from the vendor: My wife and I bought this beautiful car just over a year ago and although the car had been restored by the previous owner, at immense cost, – see appendix, but we were not happy with the paint finish and the off the peg interior trim, although the rest of the work had been carried out to a very high standard. We sent the car to Hamworthy Bodyshop and had a bare metal respray. We have photos and memory stick of the work carried out. Appendix: This Austin Healey, according to the BMIHT Certificate, states that this car is an Austin Healey 100-6 4 Seater which was exported in LHD form in February 1958 to Los Angeles USA. This car has the original engine and chassis numbers and she was supplied with wire wheels and overdrive, heater and laminated windscreens. She was re-imported back to the UK on 30.1.90, HM Customs and Excise Certificate in file. The car has the most comprehensive service history for the last 30 years. It also has the original Bill of Sale dated 9.11.89 when she was sold for $300 to Mr S Russell who had her from 1990 – 2013. He had the engine completely overhauled and bored out to 3 litres and converted her from LHD to RHD and he had the steering box upgraded to Healey 3000 specification. He spent approx £9000 but sadly, he was a drug addict and he parked this lovely car in his garden in approx 1992 and that is where it stayed. He passed away in 2013 and Mr. N Dean, who is a highly professional engineer purchased her from the estate, and set about restoring her at astronomical cost. There are 3 separate files one for each owner. Mr. Dean then had the car registered in 2016 and all paperwork regarding the registration of the car is in his file. He then used her for continental travelling and the car has covered in the last 30 years some 9,000 odd miles. The rear seats have been removed to give more storage space, the hood, sidescreens and tonneau are as new – the restoration took 3 years to complete and in his file there is an invoice for over £4.000 for a new chassis and the last invoice in that file dated January 2019 is for £3,015.92 for a new clutch, skimming the flywheel and relining the brakes, this work was carried out by the renowned Healey Specialist, Rawlings Ltd.. We will be very sad to see this car go but she needs a new owner who appreciates her and hopefully, will carry on the tradition of recording all her history. She comes with a handbook, workshop manual and catalogues from Healey Spares Specialists May be viewed by appointment. |
