Description:This Austin Healey Sprite Frogeye is a matching numbers car originally sold by Pippbrook Garage Dorking which was owned by Rob Walker’s Formula 1 team. In its early life the car was rallied in the Pyrenees although it eventually ended up being stored in various garages before it was completely rebuilt in 2003 and finished in its original factory colour of Leaf Green. Included in the sale is a photo album and invoices documenting the work. Recently a new interior has been fitted along with new shock absorbers (front) and rear telescopic shock absorber conversion. Crankshaft oil seal conversion and new tyres also fitted. The engine has a non standard cam shaft and 1 1/4 SU carbs fitted along with 3.9 diff which makes it very sporty. Has been converted to front tilting bonnet but parts to revert to original supplied with car. Auctioneers notes: There is something very appealing about these Frog Eyed Sprites. This is a good example. We noted that it is fitted with a front anti roll bar. If you are into Frog Eyes this is one to see. |
