Austin Mini 1989

Description:

First registered on 01-08-1989 as an Austin Mini Racing Flame. By March 2012 it had a recorded mileage of 92,275 when a former owner decided to refurbish it in classic Mini style with 10″ wheels, centre speedo binnacle and 1275cc engine. The current owner purchased the car in December 2013 and in late 2015 it was converted to its current specification (see below) for hillclimb and speed series competition use in road going production classes. It has held the class record at Llandow and Gurston Down. The car is road legal and has an MOT until March 2020.

1330 cc Harris Engineering “Ruby Anniversary” engine and gearbox.
11 stud head with large valves, gas flowed and double valve springs. Omega countersunk pistons, Cooper S con rods and crankshaft (balanced). Ex-Harris steel flywheel and clutch assembly (balanced). Mini Sport 1.5:1 roller rockers. Mini Spares Clubman straight-cut gear set. 1:1 straight cut drop gears. Twin 1 ½” SU HS4 carbs. Maniflow LCB exhaust manifold and big bore pipe and back box (centre exit)
Quaife LSD with 3.76:1 final drive.
Megajolt programmable electronic ignition with soft rev. limiter
Approx. 90 bhp at the wheels and lots of torque. Janspeed dyno report available.
Solid mounted front subframe – rebushed rear subframe and renewed radius arm pins.
Brand new KYB Evo shock absorbers with 8 way adjustment. Hi-Lo type front and rear adjustable ride height. Adjustable bottom arms and adjustable tie rods. Adjustable rear camber / toe in brackets.
Brand new discs and Mintex pads. Cooper S calipers. Rear “Minifin”drums
Group 5 wheel arches. Carbon fibre bumpers. Carbon fibre bonnet . Single skin bootlid.
Lightweight gel battery.
