1989 Austin Mini Racing Flame 745 (Not Warranted) £2970 + buyers premium

Description:

This vehicle was purchased by a Mr Cheeseman in 2012 who had the intention to restore it for his daughter. He carried out the following restoration during his ownership between 2012 and 2013. It had been stripped down to a bare shell by the previous owner who had lost enthusiasm for the project and left it dry stored in a barn for 7 years. Once it was in his garage it was cleaned in order to assess the state of the body. The body, boot, bonnet, doors and both sub frames were taken to a professional sand blaster to remove any old paint and expose any corrosion.  Only 2 small areas on the floor pan required welding and the doors required attention so the owner decided to have 2 new door skins professionally fitted. Once the welding was finished the underside received 3 coats of stone chip before being painted, a new copper fuel pipe and power lead were also fitted. The sub frames were built back up using the original radius arms, however new bearing were fitted along with new brake components (back plates, drums, cylinders, springs, pads, front discs etc). The car was then taken to a professional paint shop where it was prepped prior to receiving a bare metal re-spray, the wheel arches, trim and dashboard were painted at the same time. The owner decided, as his daughter’s favourite colour was purple, to have the car painted Suzuki Lilac Metallic. In the meantime the engine and gearbox were reconditioned by CRS Autos using new parts where necessary and painted using high temperature paint. Once back from the paint shop the car began to be re built. After a gallon of Waxoyl had been applied the wiring loom, engine and fuel tank were installed together with a new stainless steel exhaust. Sound proofing was attached to the floor pan prior to the carpet being installed. A new headlining was fitted by a professional upholster (N Hingley coach Trimmers LRD) who had also re-upholstered the seats, door cards and gaiters in black leather with purple piping. New seat belts were fitted along with the custom dashboard, CD player, new speakers, bumpers, new Angel Eye headlights, new fog lights, an internal bonnet release, reconditioned 12″ Mini Lite alloys with new tyres, new air horns, new grill and surround. The rear and side windows were tinted with a 15% tint and fitted with new rubber seals. The car was then taken back to CRS Autos to be checked over before the engine was fired up for the first time. The engine was fine as were the brakes but there was a problem with the clutch so a new clutch was fitted by their mechanic. At the same time a CAT 1 alarm and immobiliser was fitted as well as electronic ignition. The engine was tuned prior to being taken for its MOT which it then passed.  Everything that was done to the car has been documented along with invoices and photographs and the total spend on the car came to £6406.00. Also included are old invoices and MOTs prior to the cars restoration.
