1950 | Bentley | Special | 15,000 (Not Warranted) | £37,500.00 + buyers premium | |
Description:This Bentley Special was built in the early 70s by Halse Engineering of Lewes east Sussex, making this body nearly 50 years old, Believed too be number 7 out of 16 built the design was the inspiration of the famous Harry Rose one of the stalwart behind the B.O.D.C. Auctioneers Notes: After a pleasant drive to Newton Abbot to meet the vendor and owner of this stunning Bentley Special, I have to say, just looking at this machine sends the pulse rate up. The attention to period detail is excellent and when she is fired up, after going through the starting procedure, switching on fuel pumps etc, your ears are subjected to “the Bentley sound” magnificent ! In the car’s files there are DVLA records of owners going back to 1976 and a recent invoice, this year, for just under a £1,000 for a new radiator which was specially made in Germany. Routine servicing has been carried out by the vendor, an engineer by profession. The reason for sale is that the family are moving abroad and so his cars have to be sold. May be viewed by appointment from the 10th of January. Auctioneers Notes No 2: The vendor of the Bentley Special has dropped in another file containing invoices while the car was in his hands, old MOT’s and Tax Discs etc plus an original June 1990 Motor Sport Magazine which has a long article and pictures of Harry Rose who we believe designed this wonderful car, plus a full workshop manual for the MK VI and R Type Bentleys. The car can now be viewed. |
