Description:In Brief:
On the Surface: This stunning example of a 1956 BSA Golden Flash motorcycle is finished in an elegant combination of Silver and Black. Maintenance & History: The motorcycle is has been owned by the current registered keeper for the past 5 years, as noted on the V5C document. The V5C also indicates that the bike has had just 3 owners in its 68-year history. However, the historical maintenance records are sparse, with the current V5C being the only documentation available. Interestingly, The Vendor tells us this Golden Flash features a 1959 engine paired with a 1955 frame. Unfortunatley there is no battery on this bike so we do not have any information on it’s running status. The Model: The BSA Golden Flash, designed by Bert Hopwood and produced by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) at Small Heath, Birmingham, was introduced in 1950. It was the inaugural model of the BSA A10 series and remained in production until 1963, when it was succeeded by the BSA A65 Star. Though not originally designed as a sports motorcycle, the Golden Flash was notable for its performance, capable of exceeding 100 miles per hour and completing a standing quarter mile in under 16 seconds, rivaling the Triumph Tiger 100. Sale Insight: This particular Golden Flash is one of four bikes being sold by The Vendor, who is looking to downsize his collection. |
