1948 Citroen Light Fifteen Traction Avant 95,000 (Not Warranted) £9450 + buyers premium

Description:

Slough UK built in 1948. As were all British Citroens until 1989. This right had drive 4 door saloon model is finished in White with a French Green leather interior. This car was taken to France by one of its UK owners Mr Humphrey Alfred Jones from London where it had a major restoration and refurbishment by Paris based Citroen Light Fifteen specialist, Garage Rialland in 1989. This garage can still be seen on the internet. In the history file there are many Garage Rialland receipts for this which are hand written in French with some of them showing totals in excess of 79,000 francs (£7,426 GBP in 1989). Many other miscellaneous service receipts accompany the cars history file dating back to the mid sixties.
The Citroen was previously auctioned at ADT Classic Car Auctions in Blackbushe, Surrey in 1990 where the car sold for £11,738.00. The sales brochure and invoice are included in the history folder. The car is registered as a historic vehicle and is MOT exempt although there are many old MOT certificates with the vehicle. The car starts and drives well and has been used for several weddings and leaving proms for the current owner’s family. There are some spares with the vehicle and a copy of the 1958 Citroen Traction Avant workshop manual printed in English by the Slough works.

Auctioneers notes: Iconic French automobile, those old enough will remember the TV series Maigret. Unusual gear change comes out of the dash board, cracking car.
