Daimler Sovereign Series 2 4.2 Auto 1974

This gorgeous Daimler Sovereign Series 2 Short wheel base was supplied new by Coombs of Guildford on the 12/02/1974 to its first owners of some 29 years. Coombs was one of the most renowned Jaguar/Daimler suppliers in the South because of its success with its tuning and modification work done on MK1 and MK2 Jaguars in the 1960’s. The vehicle still retains its original dealer fitted number plates with Coombs emblems and also the spare key has an original Coombs key fob which we think is irreplaceable.

The car comes with its original owners handbook, colour chart and detailed passport which demonstrates servicing stamps. From 1976 the car went back to the same garage for all maintenance work right up until 2003 and the invoices are all present and correct detailing the mileages in chronological order. We believe from 2003 to 2009 the car was dry stored because the last bill in 2003 shows mileage at 42970 and the MOT in 2009 shows the mileage at 43010.

The car is now only showing just under 48,000 miles which we consider to be original. There is a print off in the file showing the last 10 years of MOT history.

Joining the documentation is a whole host of parts bills, PDI sheet and delivery note from the factory in Coventry down to the Surrey dealer.

Under the bonnet the 4.2 Engine is placed in an immaculately detailed engine bay with recently rebuild 2 inch SU carburetors. The vehicle has no modifications apart from its SNG barratt supplied manual choke instead of the troublesome AED units.

Both the power steering and gearbox operate faultlessly and if your brave enough the kick down also works and is sure to give you a ‘shove’ in the seat.

Inside the car is as original apart from a recently replaced headlining. Everything works inside the car including the clock, the twin fuel tanks swap over as they did when the car was new.

Supplied with the car is a variety of spares, original AED kit, original radio and Jack/toolkit.
