Description:

This is a Hawk 1.8/2/6 chassis with glass-fibre body, fitted with a 1967 Daimler 2.5 V8. Painted in Antique White with dark red leather MGF seats with matching vinyl trim. The suspension, steering, brakes and axles are MGB as are the majority of the electrical components/harness, all refurbished and/or renewed as required. The only exception being the fitting of parabolic rear springs. The engine has been stripped to component level and rebuilt with new parts fitted as required. A high torque starter motor is fitted. The gearbox is a Ford Type 9 5 speed mated to the engine via a fabricated spacer plate and a Ford Focus flywheel and clutch but retaining the original Daimler ring rear. It is fitted with a full aluminium under-try. It has an electronic “cube” fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator feeding from an aluminium, twin outlet tank. The tank has a locking filler hidden within an “Aston” type cap. The radiator is aluminium with twin fans and a Craig Davis electric water pump. A New high output alternator is fitted. The wheels are 16″ 72 spoke, fitted with Michelin 550HR X tyres as originally fitted to the AC Ace in period. The minor gauges are electronic and fitted with AC Bezels. The heater and its controls are MGB. The speedo and rev counter are electronic 100mm smiths Flight items. The seats come with matching head rests. New inertia reel seat belts are fitted. The tonneau cover is in black double duck with dark red piping. The spare wheel is 15″ not a direct replacement for those fitted as the 16″ wheels will not fit in the wheel well in the boot. There is no hood or hard-top.
The car is road legal having passed the IVA in March and received its age related registration in April. However, it has done very limited road work, only gentle running in and system checks prior to the IVA around local back lanes. It is really and on-going project not the finished article. It has been built without servo assisted brakes although they work as required with a firm push.
