Maintenance & History: The history file for this car is extensive, with invoices totaling nearly £5,500, MOTs dating back to 1999, and old tax discs included. A significant invoice from January 2024 details major work, including: Dismantling and removal of the exhaust system and rear axle, Removal of the differential from the subframe, inspection, and replacement with a limited-slip differential (LSD) unit due to a worn carrier, Dismantling of the nearside and offside uprights, replacing worn bearings with new ones, Renewal of halfshaft UJ’s, greasing, and reassembly, Drilling and wiring of incorrect mounting bolts to secure, Bleeding of the brakes and adjustment of the handbrake, Refitting of the exhaust system, Renewal of worn steering rack mounts, Pressure testing of the cooling system to identify leaks, draining coolant, renewing leaking hoses, cleaning, resealing, and refitting, topping up antifreeze, and bleeding the system The car has had just 4 owners in its 56-year history, according to the V5 registration document. The Vendor acquired the vehicle in June 2006 and has owned the car for the past 18 years. The Model: Manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd from 1961 to 1974 and was based on Jaguar’s D-Type racing car, which dominated Le Mans in the mid-1950s. The Jaguar E-Type is celebrated for its exceptional aesthetics, advanced technologies, high performance, and competitive pricing and has become a huge icon in the motoring world. The E-Type’s claimed 150 miles per hour top speed, sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration, largely unitary body construction, front and rear independent suspension with disc brakes (mounted inboard at the rear), and rack-and-pinion steering set it apart and spurred industry-wide changes. The Series 1 1/2, produced in 1967-68, features open headlights, different switches, de-tuning for emissions, twin cooling fans, and adjustable seat backs. Sale Insight: This car is one of two from The Vendor in this sale. Unfortunately, due to The Vendor’s battle with Parkinsons, both cars must now go to a new home. This sale offers a unique opportunity to acquire a well-maintained Jaguar E-Type with minimal ownership. This exceptional Series 1 1/2 E-Type would surely be prized addition for any classic car or Jaguar enthusiast/collector. |
