1959 Jaguar MK IX 65,000 (Warranted) £23,591.67 + buyers premium

Description:

Introduced in 1959, the Mark IX was the final evolution of the chassis and styling introduced with the Mark V. The ‘Mark Nine’ featured a 220 horsepower, 3.8-litre version of the XK engine and was the first production Jaguar to feature four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. Because of its well-appointed interior and elegant styling along with its powerful XK engine and strong brakes, the Mark IX was respected and popular among dignitaries and driving enthusiasts alike, a great combination of luxury and performance.
This right hand drive car in two tone green features automatic transmission and power steering. Sold new in Co Kildare Ireland, it has a warranted 65,000 miles. The Heritage Certificate confirms it is a matching numbers car. A letter from the previous owner who was a retired garage proprietor states that he purchased the car in 1979 at 51,000 miles from an American gentleman who kept the car in the west of Ireland to be used for two months of the year. Over his 37 years of ownership he states that he had the body stripped down and repainted, the underbody rustproofed, the woodwork restored, the gearbox overhauled, the timing chain and tensioners replaced along with a new petrol pump, tyres and stainless steel exhaust. Very recent work include new screen rubbers front and rear along with a boot retrim. (photos on file show the window apertures in excellent condition after the glass was removed)
It is apparent that this car was cherished by its long term owner who meticulously maintained it right through his ownership. Being an Irish car it was never subjected to salt on the roads and was kept in his motor house. Presents in excellent condition throughout showing a charming level of patina. It is very much a ‘survivor’ car rather than one that has been freshly and overly restored. Seating 6 in comfort, it drives very well with more than enough performance to compete with modern traffic. It is a well known car on the Irish rally and show scene and won many prizes over the years.
Comes complete with large tools in the boot and the two sets of small tools stored in the front doors along with the original handbooks and heritage certificate.
Currently registered in the Irish Republic. We will provide NOVA declaration and assist with registration in UK.
