Description:In Brief:
On the Surface: This is a nice modern classic, a 2002 Jaguar XJ Executive. This example is finished in Green over a Cream Leather interior, making for a luxurious combination. The odometer shows 127,612 miles from new, believed to be correct, though this cannot be guaranteed due to the lack of service history. Maintenance & History: While there is no service history available, the vehicle comes with the original Jaguar bookpack, which includes the Driver’s Handbook, 2x Audio Systems Handbook, 2x In-Car Telephone Handbook, and the Handbook Supplement. Additionally, the car is accompanied by some paperwork, including old MOTs and invoices, providing some insight into its maintenance over the years. After the XJ40, Jaguar intended to launch a brand new saloon with a new V8 engine. However, Ford, the parent company at the time, halted the development of this new saloon, termed XJ90. Instead, they proposed installing the new engine and front and rear ends onto the centre section of the XJ40 model. This led to the introduction of the X308 generation in 1997, which saw the switch from the XJ6 and XJ12 nomenclature to XJ8, reflecting the new V8 engine under the bonnet. The Model: After the XJ40, Jaguar intended to launch a brand new saloon with a new V8 engine. However, Ford, the parent company at the time, halted the development of this new saloon, termed XJ90. Instead, they proposed installing the new engine and front and rear ends onto the centre section of the XJ40 model. This led to the introduction of the X308 generation in 1997, which saw the switch from the XJ6 and XJ12 naming to XJ8, reflecting the new V8 engine under the bonnet. The X308’s exterior styling is similar to the X300 but with minor refinements and a more rounded design for all exterior lights, indicators, interior trim, and fittings, including information displays and switches. The 2002 XJ Executive is part of the X308 generation, which features a 3.2 litre V8 engine producing 240 BHP. This engine allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds. Sale Insight: This Jaguar XJ Executive presents a great opportunity for classic beginners or a fan of modern classics. While the lack of full service history should be taken into consideration, the included documentation and original handbooks add value. |
