This car was a genuine barn find, having been discovered by the vendor in 2013 on a smallholding in Wiltshire. It has been parked up for several years due to the owners ill health. Beneath a thick layer of dust it was clear that it was a remarkably original example of the rear 7-seater Station Wagon, Land Rovers top range model. This differed from the standard Land Rover in having a higher level of trim, including deluxe seats, headlining and door cards and four individually folding rear seats as well as the “tropical” ventilated roof.
Since returning to the road in December 2013, the car has been lightly used and has passed the MOT test every year with no advisories. It is now tax exempt and tested to September 2017. The vendor states it drives like a low mileage example should with a strong and quiet engine and it has the very desirable Fairey overdrive fitted for more relaxing cruising. It also has a Superwinch electric winch that appears hardly used.
Auctioneers notes: We like this one and agree with the vendor’s last line.
