Description:For a short video of the vehicle running please click here This car is truly the ultimate pocket rocket, SLK translates as Sportleight (sporty), Leight (light), and Kurz (short) and the AMG suffix gives 354 bhp and 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. With every refinement you’d hope for in a top of the range Mercedes, and that delightful folding metal roof, handsome either up or down, the SLK32 is modestly understated. Neat and compact it fits easily into parking spaces and is as relaxing and fun being driven to the supermarket as to San Remo on the Italian Riviera. The vendor bought this car as present for his wife and to remind them of their 1968 series 3 Lotus Elan courting days. Full confidence is given by roll-over bars and more airbags than you can shake a stick at, and a big boot, with tailor-made luggage meaning the roof will fold with suitcases on board, makes it infinitely practical. Boasting a competent chassis with rear wheel drive so the back tyres share the work, a powerful, torquey and willing motor, and superfast five speed auto box it’s a joy to drive. The clever shift tapping arrangement allows instant down or up cog changes, the best of all worlds, and with good Pirelli P Zero boots, fronts almost new, grip is beyond excellent. The quickest Mercedes production car of its day the SLK32 was so fast that in the US it was successfully quarter mile drag raced in stock trim. Over here it is rare and exclusive, only 250 odd were ever imported into the UK. Highly desirable and infinitely usable, nothing near the money gives the good looks and high level of competence of this car, now widely acknowledged as a desirable classic. As owner you get to enjoy a genuine AMG Silver Arrow, albeit not quite Lewis Hamilton’s world championship winning Formula 1 car! It has good service history, having been well looked after before the vendor got it and since tended by TJS in Gillingham, Dorset, Mercedes Benz trained and members of the network, so dealer quality service and genuine parts. Terry is ever helpful, personable, gives good advice and comes highly recommended. Maybe not quite Pebble Beach concours, but in excellent all round condition and good to go.
