1971 MGB GT in Blaze Orange – 3 owners from new and genuine 68,340 miles. A new MOT was issued on 02 December 2019.

This car has a substantial history file that includes the original order and invoice/ receipt for the brand-new car. This details the added extras that came with the car of underseal, heated rear window, radio and aerial. There are many old MOT certificates, receipts and the owners’ manual and handbook that came with the car from new. The car also comes with both sets of original keys.

The car was purchased new by Mr Smith from Middlesex on the 14 April 1971 and was then sold to Mr Fox from Poole on the 29 November 1971 having covered 5,650 miles. The current owner, Mr Brian purchased the car from Mr Fox on the 15 August 2005 and the mileage covered was 61,010. Having owned the car for the last 14 years Mr Brian has decided to sell the car and guarantees that the current mileage of 68,340 is correct and genuine.

Mr Brian states that when he purchased the car in 2005 it had not been used for several years and required work to recommission it and pass its MOT. This work was done over a couple of years and included replacing the braking system, exhaust and during this time the folding sunroof was reupholstered by K. Baggs Trimming. Since then the car has had very light use covering approximately 500 miles per year. However, it has been serviced every year by a local motor engineer who also prepared and took the car for its annual MOT. Around 2010 more detailed restoration work was carried out and the car was resprayed, in its original colour, at Blackfield Garage in the New Forest. The original Rostyle wheels were refurbished and painted by Solent Wheel Services Ltd in Romsey. The bodywork is generally in good condition there are two areas of corrosion at the bottom of both front wings that would benefit from attention to maintain the cars current condition. Both lower wing repair panels, which were recently purchased from the MG Owners Club, are included with the car. There is also a box of spare parts and a spare cylinder head included. The intention was to convert this head to run on unleaded fuel but currently the car is used with Valvemaster lead replacement fuel additive. 5 new tyres were fitted and both batteries replaced earlier this year by Cribb Tyre and Battery in Poole.

Having cared for and enjoyed this car for the last 14 years, including using it to take his daughter to her school prom and for trips to Haynes Motor Museum and Breamore House Classic Car Show, the vendor has decided to sell it because of the minimal use it gets and very much hopes that it will go to a new owner that will enjoy and care for the car for many years to come.
