A most attractive example of a chrome bumper GT in one of the rarest colours. Restored in 2006 , used and shown for a few years, then stored for the past ten years. Recent works to recommission include new brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave, battery, plugs, points, fuel pump, and various new fuel lines. It is now running nicely. It has five matching Goodyear tyres on refurbished rostyle wheels, an alloy rocker cover, SU pancake air filters, and a Mota Lita steering wheel.
The history file is impressive, with numerous invoices going right back to its first restoration by BL Heritage Approved Motorspeed Ltd in 1984 (£1,710 then!). Also included are Mots back to 1981, original handbook, etc. Correctly registered as historic, MOT and tax exempt. The current V5C shows the last keeper change in 2006, and just 7 former keepers.
At some stage it must have been sold by John Britten, the sixties sports car racer who designed the Arkley SS Midget/Sprite conversion. His garage specialised in MG, TVR, and Morgan. This MG retains its rare and sought after original enamel John Britten dealer badge.
Auctioneers notes: This MGBGT is a very usable, solid GT with good history and this example has overdrive, she represents good value. When allowed, viewing strictly by appointment.
