Description:Description from The Vendor: We purchased our classic chrome-bumper, wire-wheeled MGB roadster, aka The Red Dragon, 25 years ago, and have really loved owning and enjoying the car. We had both owned classic MG’s prior to us meeting so it was natural for us to buy one as our “fun” car after we got married. We’ve enjoyed many holidays throughout the UK and France, making the most of the exhilarating hood-down drive, hearing the thrum of the exhaust. We are only selling RD now as our current two medium-sized dogs don’t always get along together in confined spaces, which sadly makes travelling any long distance a no-go, together with our advancing years and a need to downsize. RD is MOT and tax exempt and has always been garaged during our ownership. The car had recently undergone a fairly extensive refurbishment when we bought it in 1997, including reboring the engine to 1950cc and having an unleaded petrol head conversion. There are many invoices and old MOTs going back to the 1980s in the file that comes with Red Dragon. We have lovingly maintained RD during our time of ownership, with Malcolm doing much of the work himself as it was bought as a retirement “toy” for him to be able to work on. We installed a replacement gearbox and overdrive about 20 years ago, and a new clutch about 8 years ago. RD has a stainless steel exhaust, Weber carburettor, copper brake pipes throughout and the inner panels have been Waxoyled. We are sad to be saying goodbye and we hope whoever buys RD will get as much enjoyment from it as we have had over the last quarter century.
Auctioneer’s notes: This MG B has been owned by The Vendor for 25 years. Purchased as a ‘fun’ car after The Vendor got married it appears that it has been enjoyed thoroughly. She has been on trips throughout England and France. The car had a big refurbishment when she was purchased in 1997, with the 1950cc being re-bored and she also had an unleaded petrol head conversion.
