On the Surface: This is a nice example of a 1968 MG C GT, finished in Old English White complemented by a Black leather interior with White piping. Having been in the care of the current owner since January 2018, this example has been in the stewardship of just four former keepers. While the car does have some bobbles in the paint on the bonnet and roof it is still very nice and it has been well cared for by The Vendor.

Maintenance & History: The vehicle comes with a substantial history file, including a collection of tax discs dating back to 1994, MOT certificates from 1992 onwards, and invoices totaling over £7,500. Key maintenance records during the current ownership include an August 2018 invoice for £300 for new black vinyl door panels, a comprehensive service in August 2019 by Mike Rolls Services for MG’s of Dorset amounting to £836.18, including vital part replacements and refurbishment. Further significant work includes a £2,363.43 invoice in August 2020 for tank fitting and lower valance replacement, another service in August 2022 costing £477.45 for a new thermostat and fuel system components, and a recent full service in May 2024 for £700 by RG Classics of Dorset.

The most recent previous owner was the custodian for a quarter of a century before it was passed on to the current owner in 2018, in fact, among the documentation is the purchase invoice from when the previous owner bought it in 1993. Also on file is a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and an MG C handbook.

The Model: The MG C GT, produced from 1967 to 1969, was intended as a successor to the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III. Powered by a 2,912 cc straight-six engine, the MGC could reach a top speed of 120 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of 10 seconds. However, its heavier engine and modified suspension led to mixed reviews from the automotive press and therefore for a short production run of just 2 year between 1967 and 1969. Despite its short production run and lack of love from the press it did stop one former Prince Charles purchasing one and then later passing it down to Prince William.

Sale Insight: This 1968 MG C GT represents an opportunity to own an example with a well-documented history, evidence of regular maintenance and just a handful of former owners.
