1930 MG Midget M Type 1631 (Not Warranted) £17,900 - 18,500

Description:

2M1506 is believed to have been displayed in a museum in Belgium for many years, hence the good condition of the chassis and body. The vendor tells us it is ready to drive away, with no further work to be done unless somebody wants to upgrade to concours condition. Included is a document giving some of the history, dates, and costs, from various owners. The biggest recent expenditure was a complete engine overhaul costing some £11,500+ and the car has only done 100 miles or so since. The vendor has just fitted an updated dynamo and solid state regulator, as the original dynamo had been cobbled together with 12v coils. Starting from the ground up all these are “as new”: 2 tyres, 5 wheels, Hartford suspension, brakes, floor boards and interior, exhaust, engine, clutch, dynamo, front cycle wings, radiator, headlights and indicators, (even the grease nipples have been renewed)! Chassis is in excellent condition. The replacement of the boat tail to a J2 type (dummy) petrol tank happened over 50 years ago. It could be reverted to a boat tail (The vendor even has the plans for this), but he thinks it looks good at present. VSCC have it recorded with this modification. It retains the original ‘MG’ number plate and has a VSCC buff form to allow competition use. The document files are extensive with genuine invoices/receipts for over £20,000 spent on the restoration. Many hours have been spent solving all the little niggles from being in storage. It now needs somebody to use it.
