Car 1 of 4 – Probate sale

This MGTA 2 seater sports is a cracking looking car supporting twin spare wheels and aero screens  The car was acquired by the late Mr. Cherrett on the 29.10.94.  On file is a record of most of the previous owners’ from December 1937.  The car was supplied by Bensters Garage Bournemouth who sold it to Mr. Coventry.   The car, at some time, during the war or just after went th the USA and came back home around 1991, when a Mr. Wakefield of Cheltenham owned her.  In the file you will find loads of invoices, a dozen or more tax discs from ’96 – 2015, plus a few old MOT’s  The tax discs and the MOT’s indicate that the car has been used until recently.   It comes with a V5C plus old log books and can be viewed, by appointment, as from now.

Auctioneers notes: We have decided to sell the probate cars as non-runners,  We found these cars in a barn-like building covered with sheets etc.  It is obvious that they have been used up to 2015 judging by the tax discs.  I would suggest a small amount of re-commissioning should be the order of the day and hopefully you will be very impressed with these cars when you view them.
N.B. The late Mr. Cherrett was an aero-nautical engineer and loved nothing more than taking a car apart, improving, it and putting it back together.  He was also quite a character and had novel ideas to prevent theft of his vehicles, such as, the Lagonda had the steering column detached from the dash board, which meant that the steering wheel rested on the floor, his thinking was that it would be very difficult for thieves to take the car.  We have attached the column to the dash board to enable us to move the car, but please, the buyer of this car must check that the work we did was done correctly and also check the steering box, he might have loosened that.
