The Model: The MG TF is a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster manufactured between 2002 and 2005. Released in 2002, the MG TF was a heavily redesigned version of the earlier MG F model, with key mechanical changes such as the replacement of the Hydragas suspension with conventional coil springs and an improved air induction system. These updates, along with new camshafts, delivered more power and a 20% increase in torsional stiffness compared to its predecessor. Cosmetic updates included a revised grille, redesigned headlights, bumpers and side air-intake grills. Despite some production issues, including uneven shut lines on the driver’s door in UK models, the MG TF maintained respectable sales figures. Production was ultimately suspended in April 2005 following the collapse of MG Rover with a total of 39,249 units produced between 2002 and 2005.
