The vendor has had this car for two years but has recently lost his garage and so has no indoor storage. She is in good condition but is not suited to being kept outdoors and this, along with the vendor not using her as much as he should, has led him to offer her for sale.

She is a 1961 2 door saloon in Yukon Grey, a rare colour offered only for a couple of years. She would originally have had a 948cc engine but has, at some point in the past, had the engine, running gear and brakes from a later 1,108cc model installed. Underneath she is solid and has been protected from corrosion well. The interior seats are original red leather and in good condition, however the original carpets are no longer with the car. The vendor bought a set of black carpets but they do not fit well at all, and so he has been running the car using four large fitted carpet mats which cover the bulk of the floor.

The bodywork is acceptable. There is no significant rust. The front wings are fibreglass and are from a later car, with combined indicators and sidelights (all working). The trafficators which were original are there but have been disconnected; the vendor does not do not know if they work. The paintwork has obviously been repaired in the past and there is evidence of previous colours on one of the rear wings. The bonnet appears original and has nice cracked patina on the paintwork which the vendor has sealed with liberal coats of wax. The bootlid has had reversing lights installed by a previous owner. One works, the other is missing a lens and appears to have been installed as a dummy to provide symmetry with the working light.

During the vendor’s ownership he has done little to change the car; instead he has simply enjoyed driving it as it is. The only major outlay has been the purchase of four new tyres which were fitted last summer (2019). The tyres are Continental winter tyres and are as close to the original size as the vendor could find.

The car is local to the south coast, having been first registered to Mr Jones by Fred Keeping & Sons of Milford on Sea on 21st April 1961. The original registration was 380 BOU. This registration was taken off the car at some point by a previous owner and the current age appropriate registration was supplied by the DVLA. There is a small history file with the car containing MOT’s receipts etc, along with a copy of the registration log showing the original date of registration in 1961.
