1937 Packard Straight 8 Touring Limousine 23,000 (Not Warranted) £28000 + buyers premium

Description:

This is a rare opportunity to own a unique 1937 Packard Straight 8 Touring Limousine which is RHD and belonged to the private collection of Sir James Cayzer Bart of Kinpurnie Castle from 1987 – 2011.

The history file is extremely comprehensive. When Sir James purchased the car, he immediately had new carpets, the leather was connolized, all the window cappings and door trims were stripped and re- wood grained and re assembled- invoice included for £2342. Forward to 2009-2010 Milford Vintage Engineering LTD carried out a complete engine and mechanical overhaul, the estimate was £33,931.92 The final invoices were for £34,577.62. In the files we have the original buff logbook showing 3 owners from 1939-1950, There are old V5s which show that there have been 3 owners in the modern period. There is a letter from Packard club of GB confirming that it is a 1937 car with all matching numbers, we also have the original sales invoice to Sir James, he paid a princely sum of £15,000 in May 1987. We have all the books including handbooks, shop manual (repair manual), a massive correspondence between Sir James and the DVLA to re-attain the cars correct and original registration number. It is recognised that the Packard Straight 8 build quality is almost as high a Rolls Royce and it is worth noting that Sir James had a dozen pre war Rolls Royces and 1 Packard.

Auctioneers notes: This splendid car is in, in my opinion, outstanding condition. She is able to be viewed by appointment from Monday 13th March.
