Riley RME 1952

Description:

First registered in UK as PKN 205, this car was exported to Ireland in 1998. A plate on the bulkhead suggests the original dealer was W.H.Gatward of Maidstone Kent. Other than that there is no early history of the car until 1977 when it was still in Maidstone and owned by a Mr Kimber. He sold it to a Mr Batty of Hornchurch in 1983. He kept the car till 1998 when the current owner purchased it and drove it back to Ireland. A letter on file from Mr Batty states that he renovated the car over a period of a year in 1983. He rebuilt the engine (a factory replacement according to a plate on the block) in 1987 converting it from white metal to shell bearings along with new pistons, rings etc. A stainless exhaust was fitted in 1989. He changed the colour from the original maroon to Royal Blue/Ivory in 1993. He states he covered an average of 500-1000 miles per year whilst in his ownership. The car has been garaged by the current owner and has also been very lightly used by him with less than 1000 miles clocked up since 1998. Comes with copy of old logbook and V5 as well as old MOT, original workshop manual, copy handbook, spares list, old photos, receipts, engineers reports, correspondence etc in the history file.
