Rover P5 – 1966 – 3 litre Straight Six.This is 1 car from a collection of 14 entered into the auction from a private collector.This car was purchased by the current owner for his extensive collection and is in good condition, the Rover P5 with the straight six 3ltr engine is quite sought after. The Mk111 being the last of this model makes it an attractive buy, also the coupe version was the one to have as it had better roof lines than the saloon. Very little has been done to this vehicle by the current owner since he purchased it, other than a full service and some minor adjustments. It already had the benefit of new carpets and the sumptuous blue leather seats have been renovated in the past. The current mileage of 78,551 although can’t be warranted, is likely to be fairly accurate bearing in mind the vehicle’s condition. It drives as it should, which is very smooth indeed, with its column change three speed automatic box to carry you along in style. The body is in great condition and is painted in the most popular colour, Admiralty Blue with a lighter blue roof which is the best combination we think. It has a rear bumper and over-riders and would benefit from re-chroming. Again this September 1966 model year was to be the last of its line, which finished in 1967 and only 2500 coupe models where made. An absolute bastion of Britishness, as these cars where coveted by many politicians of the time, including HRH the Queen.
