A description from the vendor:
“The original Sprint (I still have it’s VIN plate and original reg etc) had a body way past salvation, so I obtained WFC31T, originally an 1850HL body, which had been stripped out of all its ancillaries and fittings and would make an ideal donor shell.
So began in 2002 the start of a long project to remove everything from the Sprint, clean it, replace everything I could that warranted it, and re assembling it onto the donor shell.
Any welding bodywork repairs done at the point when the shell was bare, and although the shell wasn’t fully resprayed at the time due to limited funds, the paintwork was and still is very good. A bit dull in places perhaps, but every panel is solid with just a few blemishes and signs of age.
Every nut and bolt that needed replacing, was, fitting poly bushes to 90% of the Re assembled steering and suspension, new brake lines, braided hoses, discs and drums, new sports exhaust, new clutch, master and slave cylinders.
While the engine was out the head was removed and thoroughly inspected. The cylinders had no signs of wear or stepping and having checked the compression before it was removed it confirmed my original suspicion that the 33,500 miles on the clock were indeed original, and that his little-used Sprint had simply been left to rust away beyond economical repair, whilst its mechanicals had barely been run in.
Cylinders was simply re honed whilst it was apart, rockers were re shimmed, new water pump, plugs, leads, cap, coil, etc. Overhauled the SU carbs with all original parts. New baskets fitted at every turn of course. New silicone hoses and braided fuel lines under the bonnet fitted. The car had an electric fuel pump fitted in the boot when I got her so I just blanked off the old mechanical pump and kept the electric one.
Subframe, chassis rails and all the suspension arms etc were stripped and re painted. The underside was also stripped and after welding in a new floor pan on the driver’s side, underlay and new carpets fitted. The 1850HL had rear belts fitted so I kept these – my young kids loved going out across the New Forest in ‘Dolly’ so the rear belts were a great re assurance.
The non-standard sunroof had seen better days so I fitted a new tilting Webasto one. The 1850HL surprisingly had a painted roof, and I chose to leave it that way rather than fitting a vinyl roof.

New handbrake cables and gaitors. New flexible clutch hose (between master and slave cylinder). Refurbished alternator. Engine mountings, gearbox mounting and centre bearing carrier replaced. Fuel line front to back replaced. Headlamps changed to brighter Halogen ones. Oil pressure gauge fitted. Engine bay detailed. Alloys polished and painted with new tyres all round – car currently has 34,900 miles on the clock, so since being put back on the road in 2006, she has covered just 1,500 miles. In between times she has always been garaged. The oil pressure is very good, due to that hardly-used right Sprint lump, and she always stays nice and cool.

It’s a great every day classic that’s MOT and tax exempt. She will be greatly missed but space is needed and it’s time to move on.”

Auctioneers Notes: I have nothing to add, other than to say, she is a real beauty.
