Auctioneers Notes: This car is undoubtedly an early TR2 – the original green log book which comes with the car – states that she was first registered in June 1955 and in 1967 she was registered to a Mr M.L. Osmond-Barter. Please note that the car has been entered by a Mr. F.A. Osmond-Barter.  We are led to believe that the vehicle was dismantled many years ago and before the owner fell ill he started to re-build it.  We think he was trying to create a TR4 look-alike as the rear construction are TR4 panels, plus the front panel housing the headlights is also TR4.  We checked that the chassis is TR2 it has the original early back axle and TR people would know that the early back axle was inclined to snap the drive shaft.  She is fitted with the correct low port 1991 cc TR engine.  She has a TR3A front cowling and she has a TR2 bonnet and an early TR boot lid.  Sadly, the gentleman passed away before his creation came to fruition.  In the paperwork there is an MOT dated 22.7.66, TR2 3 and 3A handbook and an invoice from John Britten Garages Ltd dated 5.4.67 issued to Mr. M.L. Osmond-Barter for a TR2 registration number 920GRE selling price £125. There are  insurances papers dated from this period issued by Eagle Star and lots of notes about his possible restoration.  You will find in the paperwork a receipt for £90 7s 9d.  That shows that he had purchased a number of new panels including bulk heads, flooring, wheel arches etc. etc. plus others too numerous to mention.  So this car makes a very interesting proposition to restore as she was originally made. the inner front wings belong to a TR5 – it is worth noting that all these panels fitted to the car are the original stan parts made by the factory and we are informed are worth a considerable amount of money
