Description:

Description from The Vendor:

XVC552 was built on 6th June 1959 and delivered to S H Newsome Ltd, the Triumph dealer local to the Triumph factory, hence the distinctive VC registration suffix. The early history of the car from 1959 to 1970 is unknown. According to TR Register records the car has had 4 owners from 1970 to 1985, when it was in Wareham and off the road. It was then bought by Tom Barnard, a ex-professional Team Lotus driver who carried out a body off rebuild and used it for various classic events. At some stage the car was fitted with SU HS6 carburettors, a Racetorations fast road cam and what is believed by TR experts to be an original TR4 works LeMans spec rear diff plate to aid cooling, battery cut off and alarm. The car was fitted with some additional instruments in lieu of the glove box and also with a big bore stainless steel exhaust, which sounds wonderful!

I bought the car in 2011, and have driven 20,000 miles in it without it missing a beat, including some trips to France. In my ownership I have carried out a few mechanical upgrades but nothing has been done to the paintwork for over 35 years! Upgrades include conversion to negative earth, electronic ignition, Revotec electric fan, narrow belt pulley conversion, uprated alternator, Serck Motorsport aluminium radiator, bespoke aluminium fuel tank, front and rear suspension has been full rebuilt all round and fitted with SuperPro poly bushes.

The car still has the original leather seats, and comes with a full weather kit, ie side screens, soft top, full tonneau and hood bag, drivers mirrors and wind wings.

Overdrive is on 2,3 and 4th gears, has a racing fly-off handbrake, and oil pressure is very good. It has 12 months MOT with no advisories!
