Description:Description from The Vendor: I’ve always loved Triumphs, and in my opinion the TR4A is the best looking open classic British car there is. Plus, they go well, are comfortable, handle well, and are fairly easy to maintain. This particular car is a UK RHD car, in its original colour white, with red leather (real leather) seats, and wire wheels. The previous owner to me bought this TR from Esher Classic Cars at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in May 1993. It had been fully restored, including the engine and mechanical parts which were stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. An independent engineers report at the time concluded that it had been done to a very high standard. The report is in the history file along with a letter from the previous owner and photos of it at the time, on the NEC stand, and when it arrived home. There are also many old MOTs and tax discs. It was last MOTd in 2009 at (10)7,411 miles and has now covered (10)7,977 miles – so just 566 miles in 12 years – a tad underused! It has been garaged, run occasionally, and hasn’t deteriorated. Now classed as historic, tax and MOT exempt – if it was presented for MOT again the handbrake may need attention. The TR has a ‘fly-off’ lever and this one isn’t very efficient. Otherwise, everything works and it drives well. Although originally UK supplied, the V5C has it registered 1993, declared manufactured 1966. It enjoyed a spell abroad with a previous owner, and returned in the early 90s. Its old green logbook is with the car, showing first registration on 21st July 1966 as JNN416D. It is possible to apply for the original number, but I quite like the DVLA issued ‘OPD’ plate. I chose this car because the chassis is good, body panels are all steel and good, and gaps likewise. The engine bay is very tidy, and the hood, interior, and dashboard are excellent. The paintwork is great quality with just a few small blemishes. Mechanically it runs very nicely, with good oil pressure, good gearbox, quiet rear axle etc.
Auctioneer’s notes: The vendor says it all, she really is in quite outstanding condition and in my opinion possibly the best driving TR. They are better balanced and with the IRS and Rack & Pinion steering the handling is excellent. May be viewed, strictly by appointment. |
