Lot No: 34

1938 Wolseley 14/60 46,250 (Not Warranted) £8000.00 + buyers premium

Description:

This Wolseley 14/60 is a very desirable pre-war motor car, having 60 BHP under the bonnet, produced by a very reliable 1818 cc 6 cylinder engine which means she can cruise happily on A class roads. The interior is a delight and all original. The body work and chrome are in good order for the age of the car and she has an interesting providence. She starred in the TV Series Foyles War. It was the car the detective was driven around in by his Army Lady driver.

Auctioneers Notes: You would have noted this lovely old car is a TV Star.  The history file is more of a memorabilia file and includes “call sheets” of an episode of Foyles War and includes pictures of the car in WW2 trim taken at the film sets.  There are all sorts of magazines and copies of papers from 1936, old Wolseley Hand Books, old pre-war maps etc.  Most importantly there is a 2-page A4 Size statement of all the work carried out on her between 2009 and 2010 which includes a complete engine re-build.  This old lady has a lovely patina and is affectionately known as “Honeysuckle”  She is looking for a good home and she is only coming to market because the wife of the vendor could not get on with her.
