MG TF 1500 1955.

The TF was launched 15 October 1953, it was essentially a facelifted TD based on the same chassis and mechanical components as the TD MK11. Initially the car was launched with a 1250cc XPAG engine but it soon became apparent that more power was needed so it was swiftly replaced in 1954 with an upgraded 1466cc XPEG engine. Siamesing of the cylinders allowed a larger bore in the same block and with larger pistons, stronger con rods and an increase in the compression ratio to 8.3:1, the new engine produced a meaningful 63 bhp which equated to a 10.5% increase in power. The car was then designated TF1500, and externally distinguished by a cream background enamel nameplate on both sides of the bonnet, placed just to the rear of the forward bonnet-release buttons.
This MG TF is a rare RHD model. Its finished in red with a cream hood and red leather interior. The history file is huge with old MOT’s dating back to 1982, lots of old tax discs, pages and pages of bills, operation manual and workshop manual. The buff logbook shows 4 owners up to 1983. This cars claim to fame is that it was owned by Michael Crawford in the 70’s/80’s! These classic British sports cars are now very rare as only 3400 MG TF’s with the upgraded 1466cc engine were produced.
