Maserati Indy 4.7 V8 1971 - SOLD £48,760

This Maserati was purchased by the vendor in 1984 from a dealer in Kent. The vendor states the mileage was showing around 60,000 then and during his 30 years of ownership he has only covered 15,000 miles, 500 of those since 2010, as you can see from the MOT certificates. Over the years a small fortune has been spent on this car including heads skimmed, resprays, new front discs, exhausts, re-carpeted, new leather dashboard, clutch, brakes, balljoints etc. In 1996 ownership was passed to the vendors wife. Vendor states that the reason for sale is due to the fact that they have downsized and no longer have a garage. The radiator was recently re-cored. Has very good oil pressure and uses virtually no oil.
The Indy was conceived as an alternative to the Ghiby and the name Indy was in honour of the Masarati’s two Indy Minneapolis 500 wins. Only 364 4.7 litre cars were made and the RHD version is very rare. They could exceed 160mph powered by a quad: cam all alloy V8 engine fed by 4 twin choke Webber carbs producing 292 bhp and drive through a 5 speed ZF gear box.
