Description:

Description from The Vendor:

I bought this car in June 2020 for £22,500. The previous owner had owned the car since 2001 where they put it through a 7 year rebuild totaling to £15,000. When undergoing this restoration in the early 2000’s the engine was removed from the car and stripped down by engineering specialists. The cylinder heads were re-conditioned, re-grinding to the crank and camshaft was carried out as well as the bores been checked and honed for correct piston clearance. The engine was treated to a new set of main and big end bearings and fitted with a new oil pump, water pump, timing chain, and carburetors were rebuilt and re-fitted. Automatic transmission specialists rebuilt the torque converter and further mechanical work included new springs, shock absorbers, new bushes, steering swivels, wheel bearings and new rear springs and shocks were also fitted.

The braking system was overhauled with new calipers, brake discs and pads, all-new brake pipes and a new master cylinder and brake servo. A modern radiator core was fitted and also a new heater matrix, all-new coolant hoses and a new fuel tank and pipes were fitted.

The body was treated to a new cross member, outriggers, ‘crows feet’, two new front wings, various inner panels and foot wells, new jacking points, rear spring cages and new rear wheel arches and a set of spats. The body was then prepared for paintwork and treated to a full re-paint in the stunning Ivory you see it in Today. The interior was then re-trimmed with new leather upholstery, new headlining, door cards and carpets. Since the completion of this work, less than 4000 miles have been covered in the Daimler and in 2017 further work was carried out.

Front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed, all the interior woodwork has been removed and professionally re-veneered and polished and further paintwork has been carried out to ensure a stunning, first-class paint finish, has been finished to a very high standard with a gorgeous external finish and the interior is superb in every respect. The Daimler has had very little use in recent years so in early 2018 had a further program of expenditure to include a new stainless steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, new fuel pump, re-conditioned rev counter, handbrake pads, front brake pads, brake pistons, brake flexi hoses, brake master cylinder, speedo cable and angle drive, all fluids were changed, new spark plugs and uprated headlamps.

When you add it all up since 2003 the car has a mind-boggling £24,043 spent on it across the engine, gearbox, interior, brakes and general upkeep.

With a superbly rebuilt V8 engine, well-maintained mechanicals and thousands of pounds put into the car’s overall condition, this Daimler offers great value and is an ideal classic car for staring at in the garage, shows, regular use and long-distance touring.
