This 1973 Jensen Interceptor III was bought in the 80s by a friend of mine for 1800 pounds, quite a high price back then. It was in good condition but Paul wanted to make it concours and so took it apart and spent 10,000 pounds having the body and chassis professionally stripped, repaired and painted in old English white. Paul then moved house several times without doing much on the rebuild, just getting it on it’s wheels to facilitate moving it about. 10 years later he admitted to himself that he would never get it finished and I took over the project. The car has had everything done to it although it is not really concours as it is today. All suspension bushes have been renewed, the brakes rebuilt and shocks renewed with Konis. The engine although low mileage was re-bored and had new pistons, bearings, lifters and a new carburetor. It also had a brand new pair of high lift camshafts. The fuel pump has been replaced for an electric one. The cumbersome air con was removed in favour of more power, but is available if required. The auto box had 1000 pounds spent on it for a refurb with new torque converter in about 2005. The interior is in very good original condition, Paul had the seats re-Conollised, but I added a set of new Wilton carpets. The exhaust system is stainless. Recently the wheels have been renovated, fitted with new tyres (not Avons) and the bumpers re-chromed. On the negative side, the roof is losing its varnish and needs redoing. The car has only about 60k on the clock and has only done about 5000 miles since the engine rebuild. The car starts every time and is run regularly. Only last summer 1 used it to carry the bride on a French TV show (4 weddings for a honeymoon) the car was much admired although unfortunately, my friends did not win the honeymoon!

The vendor has given a very comprehensive description – incidentally, he has owned the car for 16 years – It is worth noting that all Jensen’s were handmade.  There is a brochure in the file showing the construction of the cars.  There are other very interesting articles about Jensens and a very comprehensive file of invoices, including the one invoice for the gearbox which the vendor mentioned in his write up.  The car today presents very well indeed and all it remains now, is to come for you to book your slot to see for yourself how nice this car is.
