1972 Triumph GT6 96,226 (Not Warranted) £1,300 + buyers premium

Description:

NON-RUNNER

On the Surface: This 1972 Triumph GT6 needs a lot of work. It’s clear the car needs serious restoration or could be used for spare parts. It comes to us from a deceased estate who had completley forgotten about the car.

History: We don’t know much about its earlier history. There are some old papers, like MOT certificates from 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985 and 1987 plus an old registration document, giving a bit of insight into its past.

The Model: The GT6 was produced by Triumph between 1966 and 1973 and was originally drafted to be called the Triumph Spitfire GT4 in 1963, however, by the time it came to production it was to be named the GT6 dropping the originally planned 1,147cc Spitfire engine and instead encasing a 2.0-litre, 6 cylinder engine that all marks of GT6’s ended up using.

Sale Insight: Even though it’s in rough shape now, this 1972 Triumph GT6 could be a great project for someone . There aren’t many GT6s left in the UK—maybe around a thousand—making the prospect of restoring this one that little bit more worth it.
