1973 Volkswagen Type 2 T2 Campervan 77,267 (Not Warranted) £2,500 - £3,500

Description:

On the Surface: This ’73 Volkswagen Type T2 Campervan has got character. It’s weathered and in need of restoration showing off some faded paint, rust and wear. One of the most favourable features on a T2 is a pop-up roof, a rare find in these T2s and this one has one. As can be seen in the video the engine is still firing, however, mechanicals as well as the body will need some work.

History: This camper’s got some fair history with it. MOT certificates back to ’92 when it had 20,159 miles, up until 2016 give you a peek into its past. Plus, there’s a trail of certs from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2015. Also included is a Volkswagen Caravette Owner’s Manual, a nice bonus.

The Model: With more than 6 decades of production, Type 2 is one of the most significant of Volkswagen’s models. The most distinctive feature on the T2 compared to the T1 exterior is a singular windshield, which is commonly called a “Bay window”. This camper has the 1600cc engine pushing out around 47 bhp. Later on, engines up to 2-liters of capacity were introduced, upping the power to 70 bhp.

Sale Insight: Sadly The Vendor had hopes of restoring the van, but unfortunatley never got around to it. After two years of ownership, they’ve decided to pass the torch. This van is in need of a full retsoration and recommissioning, with a buyer that is willing to take it on this T2 Campervan could turn heads again.
