Description:Description from The Vendor: We are selling our lovely Citroen Avant as both of us will not be seeing 70 again and arthritis makes manoeuvring the car somewhat uncomfortable. Once you get her going the steering is very pleasant. She has the most amazing history file and if you enter the registration number in Google, she has her own website created by the previous owner. She has had a number of upgrades 1. the big end bearings are now shell bearings 2. Larger radiator 3. Servo assisted brakes 4. the 6 volt system has been changed to a 12 volt system 5. an alternator has replaced the dynamo 6. the interior has been treated to leather upholstery. See Appendix 1 for the service records from 2013 to the present day. In the history file there are receipts for the engine and gear box re-build, lots of useful technical data, a diploma in French which shows that she was built on 17.12.1952, Repair Manuals and a presentation box containing the history of Citroens. She also has her own dust cover, some spare parts plus other books, plus a Citroen Wallet containing handbook and spare keys.
Auctioneers Notes: These Citroens Traction Avant’s are technically so advanced that it took a couple of decades for the rest of the volume car manufacturers to catch up. In 1934 the first Traction Avant took the world by storm. Firstly, they did away with the separate chassis and built the car what is now known as unit construction, allowing a much lower line with independent suspension on each corner which gave superb handling. It did not stop there. Rack & Pinion Steering was fitted. Front wheel drive, hydraulic brakes all round and telescopic shock absorbers. The 2 it engine has ample power and will cruise all day at 50 — 55 mph. They are a delight to drive. She may be viewed, strictly by appointment.
