Auctioneer’s notes:

This absolutely remarkable car is a pre-series model.  You might say, “what is remarkable about a Morris 8”  This car has only had 2 owners from new.  The first owner, a Miss Jan, bought the car new in 1935 and her best friend is the deceased owner’s grandmother.  They toured Europe together before the war, including Germany.  The car was laid up and she found that parts had been stolen from it and so she contacted John Camp (deceased owner) who was a coach builder by trade and she gifted the car to him and he registered it in his name on 30.9.02.  There is a letter from Miss Jan’s solicitor confirming this. John Camp then stripped the car completely and rebuilt it from the bare chassis.  There are 2 photo albums showing the different stages of the restoration. Incidentally, there are a number of letters from Miss Jan to Mr. Camp – see appendix 2.  If you were lucky enough to have a De Luxe Morris 8, you will have full leather upholstery, a sunshine sliding roof, and 2-tone paintwork.  In the file you will find old tax discs, MOT’s, so please book your slot to view this 87 year old car which has this unique history.
