Ford Lotus Cortina MKII 1968

This car was first restored in the early 80’s which required extensive work to the original shell and at the same time steel “Ford Works” bubble arches were added. These are very subtle and in keeping. The wooden dash was fitted in the 1970s. The car was repainted again in 2007 and is still in very good shape. The engine was completely rebuilt less than 6000 miles ago and the speedo was reset to 0 miles. A new brake servo was fitted less than 1000 miles ago. 5 genuine Minilite Rims plus near new tyres. There are invoices and photos going back to the 1970s. the vin plate shows CW code which means Dark Blue, the colour was changed during the first rebuild, apparently this is 1 of 5 built in that colour. The car is known to the Lotus Cortina Register.

Auctioneers Notes: The vendor has understated this iconic British Sports Saloon.  The total restoration carried out in 1981 was by Croxley Coach Works and the cost was £3,215.86, that was a lot of money in those days.  The history file indicates that since 1981, when the car was restored and the engine was re-built, she has covered less than 6,000 miles this is backed up by MOT’s and invoices.  This is a really lovely car and we you are a really serious Lotus Cortina buff, please ring to make an appointment to view.  Incidentally, the history file is presented in a smart  A4 file, together with a photographic album of the restoration.
