Auctioneers Notes: This is a unique 1958 Ford Prefect. She went into a Ford Main Agent Show Room in November ’75 or early ’76 – mileage of an invoice of that period is 44,863 – The car from ’58 – ’76 was always maintained by Ford Main Agents. The vendor has been led to believe that the car was in the show room Moores of Weybridge Ltd until fairly recently. The history file has the original order form and bill of sale. The first invoice in the file was dated 28.4.58 – mileage 39 miles – There are invoices right through to 1975, plus MOT’s from October ’69 (mileage 29,605) to November ’75 (mileage 44,860.) Seven MOT’s in all. Sadly, we have no other paperwork to make a case that the mileage on the car today which is 45,233 is correct, but it does seem very likely and we leave it up to you the prospective buyers to decide. The interior of the car is excellent, it even has the original clear plastic seat covers, which is a feature of the times, and there is hardly any wear on the pedal rubbers. It has been painted at some time, and this is a very solid little car, but the paint could do with a good buff. All the invoices are in the original “BP ENEROL LUBRICATION” and has the original instruction book and other booklets. What an excellent starter classic.
