On the Surface: This 1998 Honda Prelude is a fantastic example, finished in an eye catching Cypress Green Metallic exterior which looks very mature over the beige cloth interior. This sports coupe has only seen four previous owners, with its initial role as a demonstrator car for a Honda dealer. The Vendor acquired this gem in 2021, drawn to its robust structure and the absence of any MOT fails or advisories related to corrosion or structural issues.

Maintenance: Following the purchase by The Vendor, the car underwent a comprehensive body restoration and a respray in its original Cypress Green Metallic at Blackline Classic Cars in Devon. The restoration, costing £15,000, ensured that the Prelude was returned near to a ‘as new’ condition. With the car is also the Honda bookpack which holds the service book containing 5 stamps.

History: The history file reveals approximately £4,000 invested in two services, replacement springs and shocks, a new wiper mechanism, front brake calipers and hoses. Accompanying this there are invoices on file that show the car underwent a cambelt and water pump change at 61,000 miles in March 2021 by a Honda Main Dealer. A memory card in the history file encapsulates photographic evidence of the restoration with over 200 photos.

The Model: The 2.0i Honda Prelude is a European market exclusive. A sporty two-door coupé, it traces its roots to the Honda Accord lineage and boasts being the first Honda to feature a moonroof—a defining characteristic that remained a standard feature throughout the Preludes production. Under the bonnet, a 2.0-liter engine delivers 132BHP, channelled through an automatic gearbox with a sequential function, allowing the car to achieve top speeds of approximately 125MPH.
