Here is my 1973 MG B GT. I purchased this car just a few weeks ago on the 9th of September from a car dealer in Wales. This car had extensive restoration work carried out in 1991 and is now fitted with Webber carburetors and not the usual twin SU’s. The paintwork requires attention, especially on the bonnet and around the webasto sunroof, however there is no rust. The paint colour is listed as Black Tulip and this is part of the reason I am selling. I do not like this colour, I would like to have a green MG B and therefore I am selling because of this. The interior of the car is in good condition, while the car drives well and even has overdrive. The Webber carbs gives the classic MG B tick over without the SU tuning problems.

The story the vendor gave me regarding the reason for sale was that he purchased her as a surprise for his partner, she took one look at it and noticed  the colour and said “I am not going in that car” sell it!  It is not the first time that I have come across this situation.  In the extensive file there are photographs of the restoration and the finished article which looked superb.  So what did happen to the paint?  I can only guess that the top coat reacted with the primer or undercoat.  That was carried out on 26.7.91 at a cost of £1736.60 – invoice on file – and to rub salt into the wound, there is a used ca invoice dated 5.9.22 for £4500!  The invoices go right back to 1987 and there are lots of MOT’s going back to the same period.  The interior of the car is very nice and she has a Webasto Sunroof, Wood-rim steering wheel plus OD,  alloy wheels and a twin choke side draft Weber.

In my opinion, this car does deserve a little TLC or just use as is.  Please book your slot to view this car.
