This lovely MGB roadster was never built to be a “show star” or “trailer queen”, but more of a comfortable, fast and safe cruiser that’s equally at home on the track. That being said, it’s still a real good looker that always attracts attention and praise wherever it goes.

During 2016 the car underwent a comprehensive restoration, being stripped to a bare shell, all the necessary body repairs carried out including new inner and outer sills, refinished in old English white and then rebuilt to what it is now using the best quality new and reconditioned parts. Invoices and photos are present in the history file to back this up.

Carefully thought out modifications have been made to make it a truly superb driving experience, whilst still retaining the spirit of originality, and worthy of the MG motto “Safety Fast”. The front wings and bumper conversions were supplied by RPS Ltd, who specialise in top quality MG parts. This was the first customer car to have these items fitted and was featured on their trade stand during “MG Live” at Silverstone in 2018.

In order to enjoy the car all year round the “works” style hardtop gives a cosy interior, complimented by the efficient heater and heated seats.

The car has been used on a daily basis for the last two years, except for when the roads were salted, and proved to be 100% reliable and a total joy. During this time it has been displayed at numerous events up and down the country and taken onto the track at Silverstone and Goodwood where it performed impeccably.

For the mechanically minded, the fully reconditioned 18v engine is fitted with duplex timing gears, unleaded head with matched manifolds and a baffled sump. A pair of 1″ 3/4 SU carbs with ram pipes and Ramair filters sit on an extended inlet manifold for improved torque and power whilst retaining sensible fuel consumption. The ignition is controlled by a Lumenition electronic system, and is maintenance free. A freeflow exhaust manifold and large bore single box system, all in stainless steel gives a nice deep note without being overly loud. The four speed overdrive gearbox woks nicely with smooth engagement.

The suspension front and rear has been fully rebuilt with new bushes and is polybushed throughout. A full coilover kit has been fitted to the front with Gaz adjustable dampers, which totally transforms the handling giving a much lighter and positive feel to the steering. At the rear there are new chrome bumper springs with Gaz adjustable telescopic damper conversion. The braking has been brought bang up to date with a Willwood 4 pot caliper big brake kit on the front, and new standard drums, cylinders and shoes at the rear.

The interior has been retrimmed with heated leather seats, new carpet set, wood dashboard kit (real wood, not the plastic stuff) and finished off with a limited edition Motolita steering wheel. The boot is also fully carpeted.

There is a well fitting vinyl hood ,with good clear windows on a repainted frame, together with a tonneau cover, hood cover and a mesh windstop. The fitted hardtop has glass windows, new seals , and is the proper works type with no leaks or wind noise.

The car is MOT and Tax exempt, but for peace of mind a new test was carried out, and passed with no advisories.
