On the Surface: This is a very honest example of a 1964 MG Midget. Finished in British Racing Green over black leather interior, complete with white piping.

Maintenance & History: This MG Midget has been lovingly cared for, evident in its comprehensive maintenance history. The car boasts a plethora of upgrades and replacements. From upgraded braided brake hoses and telescopic rear shocks to electric screen washers and seat belts, every detail has been attended to with utmost precision. The list of enhancements is extensive, encompassing new sill panels, lower wing repairs, powder-coated wheels, and new tires. Under the bonnet, loads more new components can be found, including fuel system elements, brake and clutch parts, and electrical fittings. Also documented in its detailed history file are also old MOT certificates and a wealth of invoices. Car was subject to a CAT D write off in November 1997.

The Model: The first version of the Midget was, announced at the end of June 1961 and was essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the MkII Austin-Healey Sprite deluxe version. The new Midget differed from the Sprite only in grille design, badging, improved interior trim, better instruments and added external polished trim to justify its higher price.

Mechanically the car was identical to its Austin-Healey counterpart. The engine was a 948 cc A-Series with twin SU carburettors producing 46 hp at 5500 rpm. A hard top, heater, radio and luggage rack were available as factory-fitted extras.

Sale Insight: This MK I is a rare find. Its condition, coupled with a documented maintenance history and extensive list of upgrades, sets it apart as a standout example.
