Description:Auctioneer’s notes: Since Renault Sport stopped producing cars in late 2021 to make way for their stand-alone sports car manufacturer Alpine, the popularity of all Renaults with the R.S. badge has soared. In particular, the early 2000’s MK2 and MK3 Renault Sport Clio’s have enjoyed an increase in following and in price. These 197 BHP Mk3’s are very different externally to what you will see on the MK2 172’s and 182’s, however, internally the fundamentals hold very similar values to it’s predecessors. The MK3’s use the same 2 litre lumps as the older models, however, they were slightly upgraded. They also decided to use their knowledge from being in Formula One at the time and put it towards the MK3 including the use of a rear diffuser, and brake cooling side vents. The MK3’s also included at the time an all-new 6 speed gearbox with shorter gearing to help acceleration. Included with the car is the service book which holds 12 stamps with the last service being taken out last year. These Clio’s will only appreciate over time especially now that production of all Renault Sport cars has stopped and they will gradually get rarer. A great starter classic or investment. |
