Riley 1 1/2 RME 1954

Description:

This car was entered into our October auction however it did not reach its reserve. Please note the car has since been reduced considerably and we think it now represents incredible value for money.

The car is 95% totally original. She is finished in two tone Black and Dark Green with excellent original light tan leather seats. In our opinion the paintwork is original other than a small amount of touching up. Remarkably she is fitted with a heater and safety belts.
The history file includes 33 old MOT certificates from 1972, the mileage showing 33,507 up to 2010 where the mileage shows 52,331 (please see appendix of MOT history and ownership history)
What is remarkable are the 42 old tax discs, including the first one issued which expired in December 1954 at a cost of £3-8s-9d. In the file you will find road test no 18/52 issued by the ‘Motor’ 1953 and the front cover of the Riley Magazine featuring this car in Top Gear Classic and Sports Car show, June 1994. We are convinced that the mileage is correct (see appendix) plus the vendor was sold the car as correct mileage, see history file.

In June 1967 purchased by R S Griffiths of Peterborough
In 1990/91 the car was purchased by Mr Bob Fowler a retired policeman. He is a classic motorbike fan and therefore the reason for selling the Riley was so he could return to his passion for motorcycles.
In 1992 Mr White purchased the car. Recorded on the V5
In 2008 purchased by the current vendor

We know R S Griffiths owned the car from 1967 until 1990/91, as there are bills in the history file from 1982 until 1991 in his name.
Total of 6 owners. Mr Bob Fowler is sending a letter of confirmation that the vehicle was sold to him with the correct mileage.

The Riley is a real beauty, not concours, but when you hear the delightful clonk as you shut the doors, they shut like a new car. You can not help but fall in love with it. You might like to renew the front carpets and maybe re-varnish some of the woodwork. If she were mine I would enjoy her as she is.
